A new front-end power supply has been designed for high-end blade servers, storage, and network equipment using distributed power architectures. The DPS2000 is a 2U, 48V, 2,000W, ac/dc power supply that delivers 1,000W at low-line 110 Vac. It turns out 13W per cubic inch and features active current sharing, hot-swap capabilities, N+1 redundancy, and an I2C interface. Measuring 4.86"H x 2.74"W and 12.80"L, the supply adheres to System Server Infrastructure (SSI) guidelines and also meets strict EMI Class B regulations. The supply is power-factor corrected and boasts an efficiency of 87% at full load, protects against over-temperature conditions, and does not have a pre-load requirement.
