Groomed for installation and maintenance applications, the U1240A series handheld digital multimeters (DMMs) go beyond standard voltage, current, and resistance measurements. For example, users can observe open/close switch behaviors in the presence of intermittent signals, gauge the extent of transformer heating or the efficiency of refrigeration systems via dual and differential temperature capabilities, and, with a micro-amp measurement function, troubleshoot HVAC equipment and sensors. When maintaining ac motors or troubleshooting circuit breakers that trip prematurely, the instruments can verify the presence of harmonics. Additionally, internal memory stores data on the go for later analysis. Two models in the series, the U1241A and U1242A, measure voltage, capacitance, and temperature and feature a 10,000-count resolution, dual displays, dual-intensity backlights, dual and differential temperature, harmonic ratio, switch counter, and data logging. Pricing starts at $200. AGILENT TECHNOLOGIES INC., Santa Clara, CA. (800) 829-4444.
