2008 International CES, Las Vegas - Exploiting the company's unique input-processor architecture, the PinnaClear SiI9155 four-input processor for high-definition digital televisions (HDTVs) promises manufacturers the flexibility to quickly and cost-effectively add new features to HDTV platforms. According to the company, single system-on-a-chips (SoCs) pose difficulties in adding new functionality, thereby hindering customization across product lines. The company's input processor architecture overcomes these limitations by dividing primary DTV electronics into two parts: the input processor and the display processor. With this approach, designers can focus on their proprietary video processing technology while the input processor handles digital and analog inputs, analog-to-digital conversion, and a range of other functions. The SiI9155 integrates four HDMI 1.3 inputs and four 170 Msample/s analog inputs that support up to 30-bit UXGA RGB and 1080p 60 Hz component video. It also packs an ADC coupled with a digital video PLL that delivers near HDMI quality video from legacy analog sources. Other features include a consumer electronics control controller. Price for the SiI9155 is $13.35 each/10,000. SILICON IMAGE INC., Sunnyvale, CA. (408) 616-4000.
