Curtiss-Wright Corp.’s Defense Solution division began shipping its VPX3-716 3U OpenVPX multi-head graphics display card. According to the company, it’s the first based on the next-generation AMD Embedded Radeon E8860 “Adelaar” GPU, which implements the Graphics Core Next (GCN) architecture. A suite of embedded CoreAVI software drivers, supported with the company’s 20-year component supply program, meet the long lifecycle requirements for military programs. The suite includes OpenGL graphics and H.264/MPEG 2 video-decode drivers. The software drivers are designed to enable advanced graphics and video support on real-time and safety-critical operating systems such as Wind River VxWorks. Also included are FAA RTCA DO-178C and DO-254 certification packages. In addition, the VPX3-716 offers next-generation, higher-speed VITA 61-connector-enabled XMC modules with full processor mezzanine support. The ruggedized module is designed for deployed airborne and ground vehicle platforms.
