Touchscreen Controller Capable of Tracking Multiple, Gloved Fingers

Oct. 16, 2014
Cypress Semiconductor’s TrueTouch Gen5 touchscreen controller, the TMA568, can accurately track multiple fingers even while wearing thick gloves.

Cypress Semiconductor’s TrueTouch Gen5 touchscreen controller, the TMA568, can accurately track multiple fingers even while wearing thick gloves. Featuring noise-immunity, waterproofing, and palm rejection technology, the controller automatically switches between glove and finger tracking without requiring the user to change settings. Hover detection changes the fundamental navigation functions on mobile devices by emulating the “mouseover” feature of personal computers for enhanced interface navigation. Improved passive stylus support captures 1-mm stylus input for handwriting and signatures. ChargerArmor delivers 20 volt peak-to-peak (Vpp) charger noise immunity measured from 1 to 500 kHz with an ultra-thin 0.5-mm cover lens.
