Kontron’s AM4024 AdvancedMC module, integrating the fourth-generation Intel Core i7 processor, serves the network requirements for media server and gateway applications, as well as test-and-measurement solutions. The module complies with MicroTCA and AdvancedTCA (ATCA) commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) hardware designs—from a 1U MicroTCA platform with six AdvancedMC slots to a 13U ATCA platform with up to 12 ATCA carrier card slots. Thus, it can become a key component in supporting various streaming, live, and offline video transcoding. Video can be offloaded to the Intel Iris Pro Graphics 5200 engine incorporated into the Core i7 processor. Independent software vendors (ISVs) can exploit the Intel Media SDK 2014 to use the Intel Iris Pro and Intel HD Graphics hardware-acceleration capabilities. In terms of memory, there’s up to 16 Gbytes of ECC DDR3 memory (1600 MHz), and up to 64 Gbytes of NAND flash. Front-panel I/O includes 2x Gigabit Ethernet, DisplayPort, COM, and USB. High-speed interconnect ports on the backplane include up to eight Gigabit Ethernet ports, PCI Express, and SATA.
