Get Smart/Go Green at the Virtual Power Conference

April 26, 2021
The event hosted by Infineon from May 4 to 6 focuses on energy-efficient design and runs parallel with PCIM Europe.

Infineon Technologies will be complementing its presence at the PCIM Europe 2021 “Digital Days” online conference (May 3 to 7) it with its own event, focused primarily on energy efficiency. Held concurrently with PCIM, from May 4 to 6, Infineon's Virtual Power Conference will highlight advanced power-management and energy-efficiency technologies.

The Virtual Power Conference is arranged in three tracks, each with its own rich program of technology demonstrations and expert talks: https://www.infineon.com/cms/en/product/promopages/pcim/#demo-highlights

Industrial

This track is divided into two sections:

  • Generation & transmission, with a focus on renewable energy, advanced transmission systems, and smart-grid technologies.
  • Factories & data centers, with a focus on efficient motor controls and intelligent energy management to reduce power consumption in production facilities and data centers.

Transport & E-Mobility

This track will focus on hybrid and electric drivetrains for passenger cars or commercial, construction, and agricultural vehicles. Participants will also explore power-supply solutions for charging stations, on-board chargers, and dc-dc applications.

Consumer

This track will look at the design of intelligent, connected, and energy-efficient systems that help deliver a comfortable, yet sustainable, living experience in private households. The discussions will cover drives and power supplies for all types of household appliances, such as air conditioners, washing machines and dishwashers, as well as reliable system controllers for valves, fans, and pumps.

Most Virtual Power Conference sessions will provide attendees with PowerPoint presentations, eLearning content, infographics, videos, images (usually also as a 360° view), and downloads of reference material. For example, the Consumer Track sessions on efficient kitchen appliances include a 360° animation of a "Smart Kitchen" that demonstrates smart, connected, and energy-efficient application examples.

Registration for the Virtual Power Conference is available here.

PCIM Europe Insights focuses on the practical in providing information on current topics in power electronics, intelligent motion, renewable energy, and energy management. PCIM attendees will be able to access a broad selection of live and on-demand video presentations, many of which will be followed by discussions with the speakers. As a key sponsor and contributor to the agenda, Infineon will deliver several presentations. Additional information about the program and registration can be found on the Mesago website.

About the Author

Lee Goldberg | Contributing Editor

Lee Goldberg is a self-identified “Recovering Engineer,” Maker/Hacker, Green-Tech Maven, Aviator, Gadfly, and Geek Dad. He spent the first 18 years of his career helping design microprocessors, embedded systems, renewable energy applications, and the occasional interplanetary spacecraft. After trading his ‘scope and soldering iron for a keyboard and a second career as a tech journalist, he’s spent the next two decades at several print and online engineering publications.

Lee’s current focus is power electronics, especially the technologies involved with energy efficiency, energy management, and renewable energy. This dovetails with his coverage of sustainable technologies and various environmental and social issues within the engineering community that he began in 1996. Lee also covers 3D printers, open-source hardware, and other Maker/Hacker technologies.

Lee holds a BSEE in Electrical Engineering from Thomas Edison College, and participated in a colloquium on technology, society, and the environment at Goddard College’s Institute for Social Ecology. His book, “Green Electronics/Green Bottom Line - A Commonsense Guide To Environmentally Responsible Engineering and Management,” was published by Newnes Press.

Lee, his wife Catherine, and his daughter Anwyn currently reside in the outskirts of Princeton N.J., where they masquerade as a typical suburban family.

Lee also writes the regular PowerBites series
