LDO Delivers High Peak Current

The CAT6219 LDO regulator from Catalyst Semiconductor provides a 500-mA peak output current in a five-lead SOT-23 package having a 1-mm profile. The regulator offers a lower quiescent current combined with a low typical dropout voltage of 300 mV at a 500-mA load.

Additionally, an external bypass capacitor reduces overall output noise making the device ideal for low-noise applications. Startup delays caused by the capacitor are removed with a “quick start” feature that ensures a turn-on time of less than 150 μs. The CAT6219 is priced at $0.28 each in 10,000-piece quantities.
