PureSpectrum has developed a circuit technology that could improve the performance of compact fluorescent light (CFL) bulbs, and the company plans to integrate the technology with the industry-standard half-bridge ballast design. These ballasts are used in most fluorescent lighting.

The resulting prototypes integrating the circuit technology are expected to achieve faster turn on for CFL bulbs, while retaining their energy efficiency and longevity. According to recent independent tests performed by NVLAP-accredited testing facility Intertek, the technology improves the run-up delay time for CFL bulbs manufactured by industry leaders Phillips, Sylvania and GE by as much as 400%.
