To ensure very high availability for Dutch telecom operator KPN’s DSL access multiplexers (DSLAMs), Cherokee International has signed a frame contract with KPN to supply Cherokee’s Magell@n energy-and-site-management solution. The solution is to be integrated into the street cabinets of KPN’s all-IP broadband networks. This DSLAM equipment is located in outdoor cabinets or in building locations and is used to feed voice, video and data services to telecom subscribers.

The Comp@s management platform, integrated in Magell@n, will provide KPN a tool to remotely manage the installed base of outdoor cabinets, supervising environmental and operational parameters and providing security and access control. The platform is fully open and very easy to integrate into any telecommunications management network. It will allow KPN to reduce response times and increase KPN’s operational efficiencies.
