Linear Technology’s LT1912 is a 36-V stepdown switching regulator packaged in a 3-mm x 3-mm DFN or in a 10-pin MSOP. The regulator features a 3.6-V to 36-V input voltage range that makes it well suited for load dump and cold-crank conditions in automotive applications. In addition, its 3.2-A, 0.25-Ω internal switch can deliver up to 2 A of continuous output at voltages as low as 0.79 V.

The regulator operates at a user-programmable switching frequency from 200 kHz to 500 kHz with external synchronization over the same range. Other features include current mode control, a power good flag and soft-start capability. Pricing starts at $2.95 each in 1000-piece quantities.
