Maxim Integrated Products introduced the MAX17019, a high-input-voltage, quad-output controller for automotive applications. This device saves space and cost by integrating four independent voltage outputs in a small, 36mm2 TQFN package. The device includes a main-stage step-down controller, a 3Ap-p step-down regulator, a 5A p-p step-down regulator, and a 2A source/sink linear regulator. Capable of operating up to 38V, the MAX17019 is ideal for automotive battery-powered devices.
The step-down converters use a peak-current-mode, fixed-frequency control scheme to provide an easy-to-implement architecture that does not sacrifice transient response. This architecture also supports peak-current-limit protection and pulse-skipping operation to maintain high efficiency under light-load conditions.
The MAX17019 is available in a space-saving, 6mm x 6mm, 48-pin TQFN package, and is fully specified over the -40 °C to +125 °C automotive temperature range. Prices start at $5.50 (1000-up, FOB USA).
