For monitoring and managing Li-Ion and nickel-based battery packs, the bq2060 Smart Battery System (SBS) compliant gas-gauge IC monitors critical battery parameters, controls the battery pack's fast charge, and provides safety control for Li-Ion based battery packs. The IC supports v1.0 of the SBS Smart Battery Data (SBD) set and reports data such as remaining capacity in milliampere-hours or milliWatt-hours, instantaneous charge or discharge current, temperature and voltage. IC supports the two-wire SBS System Management Bus and the one-wire HDQ communication protocol for communicating with host systems. The device consumes 135 µA during full operation and less than 10 µA in sleep mode.
