Designed for systems operating from single- or dual-cell alkaline, NiMH, or NiCd batteries, the AAT1265 step-up dc/dc converter features high efficiency and true load disconnect in a small package. The synchronous, fixed-frequency converter delivers 100 mA to a 3.3V load from a single AA cell and 250 mA from two cells. It specifies efficiency up to 93% and operates at a switching frequency of 2 MHz, enabling the use of small inductors and capacitors. To eliminate power losses due to leakage current, the true load disconnect feature isolates the body diode from the output, extending battery life and eliminating external load switches and control circuitry. Safety features include short-circuit and over-current protection, inrush-current limiting and soft start. Available in a 2 mm x 2 mm, lead-free SC70JW-8, price is $0.81 each/1,000.
