Shrinking the silicon footprint by 70% compared to discrete solutions, the SupIRBuck family of wide-input, single-output synchronous buck voltage regulators come in QFN packages measuring 5 mm x 6 mm x 0.9 mm. Designed for 4A, 7A, and 12A of output current at a 600-kHz switching frequency, the devices operate from a wide input voltage range from 2.5V to 21V and provide output voltages as low as 0.6V. Common features include pre-bias start up, a fixed 600-kHz switching frequency, hiccup current limit, thermal shutdown, and output voltage regulation. Optional features include tracking, programmable power good, and a 300-kHz switching frequency to provide an additional 2A of output current. Pricing for the IR38xx devices begins at $2.25 each/10,000. INTERNATIONAL RECTIFIER, El Segundo, CA. (310) 252-7726.
