Claimed to be the industry's first monolithic dual-lamp EL driver, the SP4480 provides designers of cell phones, PDAs, and other portable equipment the capability to backlight an LCD and a keypad using a single EL driver IC and a coil. The device contains a dc-to-ac inverter that produces an ac output up to 220Vp-p from a 2.2V to 6V input. Operating frequency for the on-chip oscillator can be set by using one external resistor. Other features include a high impedance and a low-power standby mode that draws less than 1 µA. Samples can be delivered from stock and quantity pricing starts at $1.25 each/1000 with a lead time of up to eight weeks ARO.
