Optimized for driving n-channel MOSFETs that power FPGAs, ASICs, and ASSPs, the SiP21301 LDO controller provides adjustable and fixed output voltage options. The device specifies low dropout voltages under 50 mV at currents up to 7A with 80 % efficiency. It works with an external n-channel MOSFET and a separate supply, allowing designers to choose an FET with the on-resistance, dropout voltage, output current, and power-dissipation ratings that best suit their applications. Other features include programmable inrush current protection on start-up, short-circuit protection, thermal shutdown, under-voltage lockouts, an adjustable output voltage, fixed 1.2V and 1.5V output voltage options, and a 1 % output-voltage accuracy. Available in a lead-free MSOP8 package, price is $0.34 each/1,000. VISHAY INTERTECHNOLOGY INC., Malvern, PA. (408) 567-8347.
