The BD91x Series step-down switching regulators combine propriety simple light load mode (SLLM) technology with current-mode PWM control to provide reliable load regulation and high efficiency at both low- and high-current load conditions. The SLLM technology allows the regulators to seamlessly transfer to/from conventional PWM control depending on load conditions. This dual mode of operation reportedly improves efficiency by 100% to 200% over standard PWM controllers. Other features include single- and dual-channel outputs, fixed and variable output voltages set by resistor selection, output currents up to 4A, an output-voltage accuracy of ±1.5/±2%, and RoHS compliance. Prices range from $1 to $1.80 each in small OEM quantities. ROHM SEMICONDUCTOR, San Diego, CA. (858) 625-3600.
