Coaxial VCO Features Very Low Phase Noise

April 2, 2007
Crystek's CVCO55CC-0827-0840 coaxial resonant oscillator operates from 827 MHz to 840 MHz with a tuning voltage range of 0.2 V to 4.7 V.

The CVCO55CC-0827-0840 coaxial resonator oscillator is the latest voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) from Crystek Corp. The new device operates from 827 MHz to 840 MHz with a tuning voltage range of 0.2 V dc to 4.7 V dc. Typical phase noise ranges from −100 dBc/Hz at a 1-kHz offset to −147 dBc/Hz at a 1-MHz offset. The CVCO55CC-0827-0840 is suitable for applications such as digital radio equipment, fixed wireless access, satellite communications systems, and base stations.

Output power is −6 dBM typical into a 50-Ω load with a supply of +5 V dc and a typical current consumption of 30 mA. Pushing and pulling are held to a minimal 0.05 MHz/V. Second-harmonic suppression is typically −18 dBc. The CVCO55CC-0827-0840 has a tuning sensitivity of 5 MHz/V and a maximum input capacitance of 47 pF. Operating temperature range is −30°C to 70°C. The device comes in an industry-standard 0.5- by 0.5- by 0.220-in. SMD package.

Pricing for the CVCO55CC-0827-0840 starts at $24.00 each in volume. Check with the company for additional pricing details.
