The TK659xx series of regulated EL lamp drivers incorporates a laser-trimmed oscillator that produces the high frequency needed for driving the boost converter. The panel frequency is derived from a 128 sub-multiple of the boost frequency. The boost section of the device uses a controller for stepping up the battery voltage, a proprietary architecture claimed to provide a constant output power that is relatively independent of the voltage input supply. The drivers are available in three sizes to accommodate one-to-two, two-to-four, and three-to-six square-inch panels. Pricing is $1.99 each in 1300-piece reels.
