Promising higher efficiencies in switchmode power supplies, single 1A and 9A devices expand the company’s FAN31xx/32xx family of low-side gate drivers. The FAN3111 family provides a 1A gate drive in a five-pin SOT-23 package and can replace discrete totem-pole drivers. The CMOS input configuration option on the FAN3111C comes with dual inputs to allow a non-inverting or an inverting configuration with an enable function. The FAN3111E includes a single, non-inverting input with its thresholds referenced to an external voltage for use with controllers that operate from a lower supply voltage than the driver. The FAN3121/22 9A driver family drives large loads with over 10A of peak gate drive current. Pin-out is compatible with many industry-standard 6A, 9A, and 12A drivers. In addition, an enable function for the driver is available on a previously unused pin. Prices range from $0.33 to $0.99 each/1,000. FAIRCHILD SEMICONDUCTOR CORP. South Portland, ME. (800) 341-0392.
