At the myPower Online Design Center (http://mypower.irf.com), designers can run Spice-based simulations on multiphase synchronous buck converters built with International Rectifier's IP2001. The BGA-style device copackages two power MOSFETs with gate drivers and a Schottky diode. Simulations cover dc-dc converters operating at 20- to 80-A of output at 1.1 to 1.85 V, with switching frequencies from 200 to 1000 kHz.

The myPower tool generates waveforms for step loads, changing input voltages, steady-state transient analysis, and ac analysis. It also provides high accuracy (±5%), yet it executes simulations in just 2 to 4 seconds.

To achieve that combination of speed and accuracy, IR used MathCad to reduce the number of equations required to model the power circuit in Spice. To accelerate design work further, IR caches all simulations performed with myPower. So if a new user repeats a previously run simulation, the design tool simply recalls the results.

After completing a simulation, users can order a reference design kit with the desired parts. Pricing for the kit ranges from $335 for a two-phase design up to $395 for a four-phase design.
