Highly efficient and compact, the ISL8009 1.5A synchronous buck integrated FET regulator suits point-of-load regulation in datacom/telecom, battery-powered systems, medical instrumentation, and some industrial applications. A special multi-operation capability allows selection between forced PWM mode and automatic PWM/PFM mode. This ability to switch between modes enables the regulator to maintain up to 95% efficiency in both full- and light-load conditions. When the device is in PFM mode, the quiescent current drops to 17 µA. Other features include a 1.6-MHz switching frequency, power-on-reset, and enable to provide output-voltage monitoring and power-sequencing capabilities. Available in an eight-lead, 2 mm x 3 mm DFN package, price is $1.52 each/1,000. INTERSIL CORP., Milpitas, CA. (888) 352-6832.
