The company marks its entrance into the DC/DC converter market with the CAT660 charge-pump voltage converters, which have a 100-mA output capability and can be configured to invert or double the input voltage. With its charge pump architecture, the converters's EMI levels are reduced, avoiding use of inductors and their magnetic fields. Only two external capacitors are needed for operation. Input voltages can range from 1. 5V to 5.5V, and the output voltage is unregulated. Targeting low-cost embedded control, instrumentation, medical, wireless, and LCD markets, the CAT660 converters are available housed in eight-pin DIP and SO packages, as well as eight-pad, low-profile TDFN and lead-free and halogen-free green packages. They also come in commercial and extended industrial temperature range versions. Prices start at $0.98 each/1,000.
