LDO Regulators Shrink Quiescent Current

Designed for harsh automotive environments, the MAX15006 and MAX15007 low-dropout (LDO) linear regulators can operate from a cold-crank voltage as low as 4V and withstand load-dump transients as high as 45V. Both devices deliver up 50 mA of output

Designed for harsh automotive environments, the MAX15006 and MAX15007 low-dropout (LDO) linear regulators can operate from a cold-crank voltage as low as 4V and withstand load-dump transients as high as 45V. Both devices deliver up 50 mA of output current and specify a typical quiescent current of 10 µA at no load. They rely on a p-channel pass transistor that keeps quiescent current as low as 90 µA, even with a 50 mA load. The MAX15007 consumes 3 µA of quiescent current in shutdown. Other shared features of the LDOs include an operating temperature range from -40°C to +125°C, 3.3V and 5V output versions, and short-circuit protection. The devices are available in 6-pin, 3 mm x 3 mm TDFN or 8-pin SO packages. Prices start at $0.50 each/1,000. MAXIM INTEGRATED PRODUCTS, Sunnyvale, CA. (800) 998-8800.
