Targeting space-critical circuits, the SiC714CD10 and SiC711CD10 chips integrate a control MOSFET, synchronous MOSFET, and driver circuit into a 10 mm x 10 mm PowerPAK MLF package. The devices promise to simplify the single- and multi-phase dc/dc design process and provide 3% higher efficiency when compared to discrete topologies. A low-side MOSFET control pin enables pre-biased start-up, putting the brakes on undesirable sinking current from a pre-charged output capacitor. The SiC714CD10 handles input voltages from 3.3V to 16V, delivers up to 27A of continuous output current in still air, and is optimized for a 10% duty ratio. Typical on-resistances are 3 mΩ for the low side and 10.2 mΩ for the high side. The SiC711CD10 accepts input voltages from 3.3V to 16 V and provides a 40% duty ratio. It provides a continuous output current up to 25A and typical on-resistance values are 4 m? for both the high- and low-side MOSFETs. Price for either device is $2 each/100,000.
