The LTC3408 1.5 MHz, synchronous buck regulator integrates a p-channel bypass MOSFET with an on-resistance of 0.08W into an eight-lead, 3 mm x 3 mm DFN package that can deliver up to 600 mA of continuous output current. It employs a constant-frequency, current-mode architecture that operates from an input voltage range of 2.5V to 5V, and the output can be dynamically programmed from 0.3V to 3.5V. At output voltages above 3.6V, the MOSFET connects VOUT directly to VBATTERY with a dropout of less than 50 mV at 600 mA. Additionally, the device's 1.5 MHz switching frequency is said to allow the use of low-cost capacitors and inductors measuring less than 1-mm high. Pricing starts at $2.15 each/1,000.
