Aimed at high-current loads in portable devices such as cell phones, PCs, PDAs and consumer products, the MIC5319 low-dropout regulator (LDO) is a 500 mA device fabricated in CMOS technology. Power supply rejection ratio (PSRR) is greater than 70 dB at 1 kHz. Ground current is specified at less than 90 μA, and dropout voltage is 200 mV typical at 500 mA, extending battery life in portable applications. The regulator is offered in two package options depending on power output requirements. The thermally- enhanced 2 mm x 2 mm 6-pin MLF package is used for applications that require a continuous current output of 500 mA. It has a 55% smaller footprint than the industry standard SOT-23, but has a junction-to-ambient thermal resistance of 90°C/W. For less stringent applications, the device comes in the low-profile SOT-23 for 500 mA peak current operation. Price is $1.25 each/1,000. MICREL INC., San Jose, CA. (408) 474-1276.
