Available in power MSOP-8 and IttyBitty SOT23-5 packaging, the MIC5219 and MIC5216 are a pair of 500-mA low-power, low-dropout regulators that are said to be among the industry's smallest. Thanks to the packages' fused leadframes, thermal resistance is improved to the point that the devices' power handling capability is on a par with much larger SO-8 packages. Both devices offer dropout voltages of 300 mV at 500 mA and low quiescent current of 80 µA. Both also offer very low-noise outputs. The MIC5219's noise performance can be further enhanced by adding a bypass cap. The MIC5216 features an out-of-regulation error flag. They're offered with adjustable or fixed outputs of 3V, 3.3V, 3.6V or 5V.
