Groomed for mobile phones, digital media players, Bluetooth headsets, and GPS designs, the AP133 is described as a fast-transient-response low dropout (LDO) regulator that combines low quiescent current and adjustable regulation down to 1V. The device can deliver up to 300 mA from a 2V to 6V input range and requires only a standard 1-mF ceramic output capacitor. With a quiescent current of 40 mA, the LDO needs a small amount of current to maintain regulation from 0-mA load to full load. Other features include an adjustable output voltage from 5V down to 1V, over-current protection, short-circuit protection, and thermal shutdown, a ±2% accuracy, and an operating temperature from -40°C to +85°C. The AP133 is available in a SOT-25 package and in a 35% smaller package option, the micro 2 mm x 2 mm DFN2020-6. DIODES INC., Westlake Village, CA. (805) 446-4800.
