Offered as the first in a family of 3V, InGaP, heterojunction bipolar transistor (HBT) power amplifiers (PAs) designed for GSM, TDMA, CDMA and 3G wireless handsets, the AWT6107 power amplifier delivers dual band (GSM/DCS) voice operation as well as GPRS data services capability in what is claimed to be a single, highly integrated module solution. This power amplifier is said to integrate all of the necessary passive components for full compensation and 50-Ohm input/output matching resulting in reduced component. The device operates at 3.5V and has a footprint of 9.2 mm x 11.6 mm and a 1.55-mm profile. It demonstrates 55% power added efficiency in the GSM bandwidth and 50% power added efficiency for DCS operation, said to achieve extended battery life and longer talk times for wireless handsets. The AWT6107 is priced at $5.85 each/1,000 units.
