Claiming to simplify CompactPCI and PCI hot-plug, hot swap applications, the MIC2580 is said to be the industry's most highly integrated power controller. Offered in 24-pin TSSOP and SSOP designs, the device supports 3.3-, 5- and ±12-V card power distribution. It also provides complete overcurrent and undervoltage fault protection plus slew-rate limiting.
Integrating the 1-V precharge supply required in cPCI applications, the device eliminates the need for an additional regulator and several discrete components. Other features include a power-good output separate from the overcurrent fault signal, power-on reset that eliminates the need for additional reset supervisor ICs, and integrated 12- and -12-V MOSFETs to support PCI applications that require these supplies. Pricing in either a 24-pin SSOP or TSSOP is $3.60 each/1,000.
