To accommodate non-isolated ac/dc applications, three members have been added to the LinkSwitch-TN family of power conversion devices. They are said to be the industry’s first monolithic, high-voltage power converters, designed to replace non-isolated, low current (less than 360 mA) resistive/capacitive dropper and linear transformer power supplies. Employing the company’s EcoSmart technology, the devices allow a typical ac/dc buck converter supply to consume less than 100 mW under no-load conditions. Using as few as 15 external components, they accept a fault-protected, universal input from 85 to 265 Vac and provide ±10% load regulation in a standard buck or buck-boost configuration. Other features include a 66 kHz switching frequency, 700V power MOSFET, oscillator with on/off control, high voltage startup, current limiting, hysteretic thermal shutdown, and auto-restart circuitry. In plastic through-hole DIP-8 and SMD-8 packages, prices range from $0.42 to $0.59 each/10,000. POWER INTEGRATIONS, San Jose, CA. (408) 414-9665.
