Meeting power up/down sequencing requirements in multiple-rail systems, the LTC3708 dual-output, two-phase step-down dc/dc controller can be used to track four, six, or eight output voltages. The device is said to eliminate the need for sense resistors, as well as digital control, programming, or glue logic. Features include no-clock-latency operation, efficiencies up to 96%, input voltage range from 5V to 36V, and an output voltage and current of 2V and 5A, respectively. The device is available in a 5 mm x 5 mm QFN package with an operating temperature range from –40°C to +85°C. Price is $4.80 each/1,000. LINEAR TECHNOLOGY CORP., Milpitas, CA. (800) 454-6327.
