The LTC3421 is a 3-MHz, current-mode, synchronous boost dc-dc converter with true output disconnect and inrush current limiting. The device's internal switches provide a 3-A minimum current limit and deliver output voltages of up to 5.25 V from input voltages of 0.5 V to 4.5 V. The converter best suits lithium-ion and single/multicell alkaline and nickel-metal-hydride applications. It delivers up to 1.5 A of continuous current from two alkaline cells. Pricing for the 24-lead QFN package starts at $3.50 each in lots of 1000.
