Complete power management for 3V to 8V hot swap data processing and network applications is provided by the UCC3919 hot swap power manager IC. Uses for the IC include server backplane modules, network backplane modules, power cables, docking stations and Energy Star systems. It's available in military, commercial and industrial temperature ranges. Features include externally programmable functions such as fault current, fault time, soft start, maximum regulation current and average power limiting on the external N-channel FET. Combining these functions with a stabilized backplane and inrush current protection increases application tolerance, reliability and flexibility.
