With dimensions of just 50 x 35 x 10 mm, resulting in a power density of 1.42W/cm3 (23.4W/in. 3), NPH25 series of 25W dc-to-dc converters are claimed to be the smallest such devices on the market today. And while rated at 25W, the converters reportedly will provide a guaranteed 30W in ambient temperatures of up to 70°C without external cooling. Other features include: efficiency levels of up to 90%, wide, 2:1 inputs of either 18V to 36V or 36V to 72V; and single-ended outputs that are fully regulated over the full load range. Output options are 3.3V, 5V, 12V or 15V.The 25W converters also boast of a multi-function synchronization clock pin that is said to permit sensitive frequencies to be avoided in data acquisition applications and to help eliminate noise-related problems that can arise when connecting converters in parallel. The converters can operate over a -40°C to 85°C temperature range and are capable of operating at case temperatures of up to 110°C.
