Designed for use in portable and battery-operated products, the ±15 kV ESD-protected MAX3224E, MAX3225E, MAX3226E, and MAX3227E 3V RS-232 ICs are said to eliminate the need for external ESD protection while maximizing battery life by using only 1 µA of supply current. The MAX3224E and MAX32255E are two-transmitter/two-receiver solutions, while the MAX3226E and MAX3227E are one-transmitter/one-receiver solutions for size-constrained applications that do not require extra handshaking or control lines. The MAX3224E/MAX3226E guarantee data rates up to 250 kbps, while the MAX3225E/MAX3227E guarantee 1 Mpbs for very high-speed applications.
