Targeting low-voltage microcontrollers, microprocessors and logic circuits, the MIC39100 chip is said to offer the smallest size and the lowest dropout voltage available today for 1A low-dropout (LDO) regulators specializing in performing 3.3V-to-2.5V conversions. Housed in a miniature, SOT-223 package, the new LDO regulator offers a typical dropout voltage of 410 mV and a typical ground current of just 11 mA, both at 1A. A version of the device is also available for converting 5V to 3.3V.Other specs for MIC39100 LDO include a maximum input voltage of 16V, an operating temperature range of -40°C to 85°C, and an initial accuracy of 1%. The device also offers a fast transient response and reverse battery, current limit, thermal shutdown, and reversed-lead insertion protection features.
