Offered as the industry's first 2.5 Gb/s, dual-loop laser diode driver, the ADN2840 is optimizes laser performance by continuously monitoring the optical output power, and correcting for variations caused by changes in operating temperature and laser diode degradation over time. Other features of the ADN2840 include an 80 mA maximum modulation current, 100 mA maximum bias current, and 80 ps typical rise-time. The device includes user programmable fail and degrade alarms and provides the ability to separately monitor bias, modulation and monitor photo diode currents. It also allows users to perform low frequency amplitude modulation of the eye for supervisory data channels. Applications include SONET and SDH transmitters operating at or near OC-48/STM-16 data rates. Available in a 48-pin TQFP, price is $24.00 each/1,000.
