Designed to filter out noise from a 5V supply, the CMPWR161 low dropout (LDO) regulator claims to improve sound quality in a variety of computer and other digital-audio applications. A 4.75 V, 150 mA regulator, the LDO is said to provide excellent power supply ripple rejection even with a very low voltage differential between Vin and Vout, isolating the regulator output from any noise on the input supply across the entire audio band. Low dropout is specified as 110 mV, and the device may also be used in sensitive analog applications. Available in a five-pin SOT-23 package, price is $0.48 each/10,000.
