Supplying users with a space-saving power management product, the MCP1252 and MCP1253 regulated charge pump converters accomplish dc-to-dc conversions in battery-operated environments, such as cell phones, PDAs and handheld meters, without the need of an inductor. The 120 mA charge pump devices require less external components than many other charge pump devices. From a 2.7V through 5.5V input, the converters produce either a fixed 3.3V or 5.0V output or an adjustable output voltage of 1.5V to 5.5V. The devices have a low drain current of 60 mA, a shutdown current of 0.1 mA, and a power-good output that can detect an out-of-regulation situation with an output voltage accuracy of ±2.5% maximum, 0.5% typical. Both devices are available in 8-pin MSOP packages, are specified over a temperature range of -40°C to +85°C, and cost $1.61 each/1,000. MICROCHIP TECHNOLOGY INC., Chandler, AZ. (480) 792-7668.
