Hot swappable in live, -48V backplanes, the ADM1073 operates on voltages up to -80V and can tolerate transient voltages up to -200V. The device constantly monitors the load current to ensure that it remains less than a level programmed by an external sense resistor. Features include dual over-voltage and under-voltage pins with variable hysteresis, programmable soft starting of the current profile, time-based foldback for extra FET protection, and five additional logic I/O flags including shutdown and restart. Available in a 14-lead TSSOP, price is $2 each/1,000. ANALOG DEVICES INC., Wilmington, MA. (800) 262-5643.
