The LT1935 is a 2A, 40V, 1.2 MHz step-up dc/dc converter housed in a small SOT-23 package. Its wide 2.3V to 16V input voltage range enables it to operate from single-cell Li-Ion batteries up to fixed 15V input rails and deliver outputs up to 38V. The device?s 1.2 MHz switching frequency keeps noise out of noise-sensitive circuits and allows the use of tiny inductors and capacitors. The internal NPN switching transistor has a VCE(SAT) of 180 mV at a collector current of 2A independent of supply voltage. This results in high efficiency even at maximum power levels from a 3V input. The high breakdown voltage of the switching transistor (40V) makes the device suitable for boost converters up to 40V. It can generate 5V at up to 1A from a 3.3V supply or 5V at 550 mA from four alkaline cells in a single-ended primary inductance converter (SEPIC) design. Pricing starts at $2.44 each/1,000.
