Operating with 3V to 14.5V inputs, the MIC2168 and MIC2169 provide minimum outputs of 0.8V and can power external MOSFETs, via integrated gate drivers, to deliver output currents up to 20A. The MIC2168 operates at a fixed PWM frequency of 1 MHz and the MIC2169 operates at 500 kHz. Both devices are capable of efficiencies up to 95%. Other shared features include dual-mode current limiting, short-circuit protection, over-temperature shutdown, and output over-voltage protection. Available in MSOP-10 packages, prices for the MIC2168 and MIC 2169 are $1.92 and $1.74 each/1,000, respectively. For more details, contact Carolyn Lajoie at MICREL INC., San Jose, CA.
