Seeking employment in LCD monitors and TVs, plasma panels, power adapters, and battery chargers, the AP1580 300-kHz, 3A asynchronous PWM buck converter provides a wide input range from 10V to 40V and delivers an adjustable output voltage range from 0.8V to 36V. The device integrates a NMOS power switch with an on resistance of 80 mΩ and is capable of delivering a continuous output current up to 3A. Other features include an enable function that can power down the converter to a 2-µA standby mode, thermal shutdown, current limiting, short-circuit protection, and a voltage-error amplifier.
