The TPS728185315 embarks as the first dual-level, 200-mA low-dropout (LDO) linear regulator with simple dynamic voltage scaling. Applications include those that require two levels of output-voltage regulation for programming eFUSE or SIM cards with additional memory, i.e., wireless handsets, PDAs, smart phones, and MP3 players. Features include a dropout of 230 mV with an input voltage range from 2.7V to 6.5V and fixed outputs from 0.9V to 3.6V. The LDO provides preset EEPROM voltage options of 1.85V and 3.15V and allows users to set switchable voltages for eFUSE and SIM cards. For example, a higher voltage can be used for fuse programming or with detection of the SIM card, and a lower voltage at the end of programming. In a five-ball, 1 mm x 1.4 mm x 0.6 mm WCSP or a six-pin, 2 mm x 2 mm SON package, pricing is $0.39 each/1,000. TEXAS INSTRUMENTS INC., Dallas, TX. (800) 477-8924.
