Pumped for portable consumer, medical, and industrial applications, the ADP2503 and ADP2504 dc/dc converters support switching frequencies at speeds up to 2.5 MHz and regulate voltages above and below the battery output. Their fast switching speed allows designers to use low-cost multilayer inductors that are half the size required by comparable converters. Relying on a proprietary current-mode buck-boost architecture, the devices achieve glitchless mode transitions and reliable transient performance across line and load. They also feature a no-load quiescent current of 38 µA in power-save mode. The ADP2503 and ADP2504 operate from input voltages ranging from 2.3V to 5.5V and deliver fixed output voltages from 2.8V to 5V. Available now in 10-lead, 3 mm x 3 mm LFCSP packages, pricing is $1.40 each/1,000. ANALOG DEVICES, INC., Norwood, MA. (800) 426-2564.
