Digital Pulsers Offer Active Clamping

Oct. 8, 2008
Tailored for ultrasound imaging, the MAX4806, MAX4807, and MAX4808 dual, high-voltage digital pulsers enable uni- or bi-polar pulsing in high-voltage systems

Tailored for ultrasound imaging, the MAX4806, MAX4807, and MAX4808 dual, high-voltage digital pulsers enable uni- or bi-polar pulsing in high-voltage systems. Delivering a minimum output drive of 2A, each pulser includes three logic inputs per channel and two independent enable inputs. They also employ active-clamp circuitry to select the number of signals to drive the device and reduce the second-harmonic output. The devices operate from a single supply up to 200V or from dual ±110V supplies and specify an operating temperature range from 0?C to +70?C. The MAX4806 has over-voltage protection on its clamp outputs while the MAX4807 offers over-voltage protection on its pulser and clamp outputs. Each device is available in a 56-pin, 7 mm x 7 mm, TQFN package. Prices start at $6 each 1,000. MAXIM INTEGRATED PRODUCTS, Sunnyvale, CA. (800) 998-8800.
