The THS4531 is a fully differential analog-to-digital converter (ADC) driver that is claimed to provide more than eight times the performance-to-power ratio of similar devices. The amplifier uses only 250 µA of quiescent current, while providing 36 MHz of bandwidth to support the high-performance, ultra-low power needs of portable and high-density systems, such as flow meters and portable medical devices. The device features a slew rate of 220 V/µs. A fast settling time of 150 ns to 0.01% reduces data acquisition time for driving high-sample-rate converters. The driver also features a quiescent current consumption of just 250 µA and power-down mode current consumption of only 0.5 µA. Power supply operation is from 2.5 V to 5 V, which allows battery-powered operation and flexible power supply selection. Other features include a flexible negative-rail input common mode and rail-to-rail output that enables simplified interface designs with single-ended, ground-based signal sources and differential successive-approximation register (SAR) and delta-sigma ADCs. The driver measures only 2-by-2 mm in a QFN package, making it suitable for use in high-density applications. Other package options include a 3-by-5-mm MSOP and 5-by-6-mm SOIC.  The 2-by-2-mm THS4531 is priced at $1.10 each/1,000. The THS4531DGKEVM evaluation module is also available to speed evaluation of the device. It can be ordered for $149. PSPICE and TINA-TI Spice models are also available, along with a TINA-TI reference design.
